9u Birmingham Giants Baseball claim State Title

Improving on their 16-2 fall record, the Birmingham Giants 9u baseball team added 4 more victories to finish out the fall season with a 20-2 mark. Opening pool play the Giants were scheduled to play the Caba Jays. Brons Anderson started the game on the mound and Will shoults closed out the final inning of the Giants win. Mason Jones (2 2 3B), Brayden Helms (1), Cam Buford (1), Will Shoults (2B), Braeden Wainwright (1), Brons Anderson (2B), Miles Sanders (1), Landon Coleman (1), and Luke Francis (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win.

In their second game of pool play the Giants were paired up with the Trussville Huskies. In a game that was never close the Giants pulled away with an 11-1 win. Cam Buford tossed 3 innings, allowing no hits and striking out 6, and Tanner Egan closed out the final inning of the win. Mason Jones (2), Cam Buford (2), Will Shoults (1), Tanner Egan (1), and Luke Francis (1) all had hits in the win. The win seated the Giants first going into bracket play.

In the bracket play semi finals game the Giants again faced off with the Caba Jays. In a game that ended 7-3 the Giants jumped out to a 6-0 first inning lead. Braeden Wainwright started the game of the mound for the Giants and Tanner Egan closed out the final innings of the 7-3 win. Mason Jones (1), Cam Buford (2B), and Tanner Egan (2B) all had hits in the win that moved the Giants into the state tournament finals.

In the championship game, the Giants faced off with the Buck Creek Pirates. Ethan Passmore struck out 6 over 3 innings, allowing no hits in tossing the Giants 85th no hitter all time. Offensively the Giants were led by Mason Jones (2, 1 HR), Brayden Helms (1), Cam Buford (2, 1 2B), Braeden Wainwright (1), Miles Sanders (2, 1 3B), and Tahj Salaam (2) all had hits in the Giants win, their 15th state tournament win all time.
