The Birmingham Giants 13U baseball, playing in their first tournament of the spring, started their season with 3 wins and a 2nd place finish on saturday. Playing in their first pool play game, the Giants managed just 1 hits by Will Dutton, but a few runs late cost the Giants as theu fell in the season opener. In game 2 of pool play, the Giants were matched with the Rebels from Vestavia. Jake Holderfield and Caleb Reed combined to toss a no hitter allowing no hits over 4 innings while striking out 3. At the plate Kason Munoz (1), Jake Holderfield (2), Ivan Pruitt (1) and Jaxon Bragg (1) all had hits in the win for the Giants. The win finished the Giants 1-1 in pool play.
In their first game of bracket play, the Giants were again matched up with the Rebels. Kason Munoz again aloowed no hits while striking out 4 and Hits from Bradley Wainwright (1), Kason Munoz (2), Will Dutton (2), Jake Holderfield (2), Caleb reed (1), Aubrey Sanders (1), Ivan Pruitt (1), and Brett Butler (1) all had hits as the Giants advanced to the 2nd round of bracket play.
The second round of bracket matched the Giants with Browning academy. Jake Holderfield allowed just 1 hit over 4 innings while striking out 5 and Bradley Wainwright (1), Kason Munoz (2), Will Dutton (1), Jake Hoderfield (2B), Aubrey Sanders (2b), Judson Bryant (1), and Brett Butler (1) all had hits as the Giants cruised to an 8-1 win and a spot in the championship. In the Championship the Giants managed hits from Kason Munoz (1) and Ivan Pruitt (1) as they finished 2nd.
