Playing in their first contest to start the summer season, the Birmingham Giants 15u and 17u teams swept both ends of their double headers on sunday in pleasant grove. In their first game of the double header the Birmingham Giants 15u faced off with LAL 16u. Dawson Shoults tossed 3.2 innings and Braden Sullivan closed out the 7-6 win for the save. At the plate hits from CJ Okon (1), Dawson Shoults (1), Hayden Dupree (2), and Carson Hurley (1) led the way.
In their second game of the double header Dakota Cobb scattered 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3, and hits from Braden Sullivan (2), CJ Okon (1), Carson Hurley (1), and Will Davis (1) powered the Giants to a 10-0 win.
The 17u Birmingham Giants started their summer campaign against LAL 18U with Andrew Howard on the hill, allowing just 5 hits over 6 innings and striking out 6, and Tyler Allen closed out the final inning of the 11-4 win. Hits from Logan Fowler (2, 1 2B), Zac Egan (2), Chase Marshall (2, 1 2b), Tyler Allen (1), Drew Johnson (1), EJ Jackson (3B), Gavin Clanton (1) and Garrett Whitehead (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win.
In Game 2, Jacob Thurber started the game on the mound for the Giants before giving way to Dax Phillips to start the 3rd, followed by Chase Marshall and Tyler Allen who struck out 5 over 2 innings of the 15-7 win. At the plate, Logan Fower (2B), Zac Egan (2), Chase Marshall (1), Aiden Latham (1), Ej Jackson (2), Andrew Howard (2B), and Davis Deason (2, 1 2b) all had hits in the win for the Giants. Over the coarse of the 4 games, the Birmingham Giants swiped 16 bases, while allowing just 2, and Giant catcher threw out LAL on 3 of their 5 attempted.
