The 10u Birmingham Giants softball Carroll raised their season record to 22-7 so far on the spring season, including 4 more last weekend in Madison to bring home the championship. In their first game of pool play the Giants were matched up with Lightning 2011. Harper Riley threw the 89th no hitter in club history, allowing no hits and striking out 4 over 4 innings. At the plate, Heidi Garzarek (2 , 1 3B), Addison Praytor (2), Alyssa Broome (2, 1 2B), Ralee Burgett (HR), Kendall Burch (2), Khloe Kennedy (2), Haylee Gothard (2, 13B), Harper Riley (1), Skylan Dyson 2, 12B), and Abigail Erreca (3) all had hits in the 16-0 win. In game 2 of pool play, the Giants faced off with the Hot Shots 10u. Kendall Burch allowed just 1 hit over 4 innings, while striking out 10 and Addison Praytor (2B), Alyssa Broome (1), Ralee Burgett (3B), Kendall Burch (1), Khloe Kennedy (2), Haylee Gothard (2B), and Skylan Dyson (1) all had hits in the 5-2 win. The 2 pool play wins seated the Giants first over all heading into bracket play.
The Birmingham Giants 10u started their bracket play with the 10u Hot Shots. In a low scoring game, Alyssa Broome allowed just 1 hit over 5 innings, while striking out 9, and Alyssa Broome (1), Kendall Burch (1), and Harper Riley (1) had hits as the Giants pulled out the 3-1 win. The win moved the top seated Giants into the championship game.
In the championship, Kendall Burch allowed just 1 hit over 3+ innings while striking out 11, and hits from Addison Praytor (1), Alyssa Broome(1), Ralee Burgett (1)and Khloe Kennedy (2) all had hits in the 5-2 championship win.
