Playing in their first event since all their players have returned from school ball, the Birmingham Giants 12u softball team rolled off a 4-1 mark on their way to a second place finish. In game 1 of pool play, the Giants faced off with the Bomb Squad. The Giants scored 11 runs in their first 3 innings and never looked back on their way to a 14-3 win. Piper Rowe and Molly Pappas combined to allow just 2 hits over 4 innings while striking out 2, and at the plate Shelby Parker (1), Teagan Huey (2 2B), Hailey Nichols (2B), Piper Rowe (2), Briley Easton (2B), Molly Pappas (2), Jamie Hughley (1), Maggie Holt (2), and Chelsea Youngblood (2) all had hits as the Giants cruised to the 14-3 win. In game 2 of pool play, Briley Easton started the game in the circle , allowing just 2 hits over 4 innings and striking out 3, and offensively the Giants were led by Briley Easton (HR) and Jamie Hughley (2B) as the game ended the way it started in a 4-4 tie. The Birmingham Giants finished pool play with a 1-0-1 mark heading into bracket play.
In their first game of bracket play, the Giants sent Piper Rowe to the circle again, followed by Molly Pappas and Briley Easton who combined to allow 3 hits over 6 innings and at the plate Shelby Parker (1), Hailey Nichols (2B, 3B), Jamie Hughley (1), Piper Rowe (2, 1 2B), Briley Easton (2B), and Chelsea Youngblood (1) all had hits as the Giants won 7-5 to advance into the next round of bracket play.
In the semi final bracket play game, Briley Easton allowed just 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 1, and Shelby Parker (1), Hailey Nichols (1), Teagan Huey (HR), Jamie Hughley (1), and Briley Easton (1) all had hits for the Giants offense as they ended with a 5-4 win and a spot in the championship game.
In the Championship game, the game was close for 3 innings, but a few hits late cost the Giants along with just 1 hit from Shelby Parker and they fell in the championship game for the first time all day and ended in second place.
