Playing on the turf fields in Albertville, the Birmingham Giants 10u Softball team grabbed second amongst some stiff competition. In their first game of pool play the Birmingham Giants faced off with the Tenn. Fury Platinum. Makayla Mann and Kate Flannagan combined to allow just 1 hit over 4 innings and striking out 6. At the Plate Paisley Howell (1), Laney Little (3B), and Makayla Mann (1) all had hits as the Giants rolled to the 5-0 win.
In their second game of pool play, the Birmingham Giants were matched up with the Lady Dukes. The Giants offense pounded out 10 hits (Paisley Howell (1), Kenzy Atkinson (2), Makayla Mann (1), Little (1), Kate Flannagan (1), Andi Zannis (1), Grace Turner (2) and Kinley Seibert (1) all had hits for the Giants and Kate Flannagan and Kenzy Atkinson combined to allow no hits over 4 innings in tossing the Birmingham Giants 97th No hitter all time as the Giants won easily 9-1.
Moving into bracket play, Grace Turner fanned 13 Fury Platinum hitters over 5 innings, while allowing just 1 hit and hits from Kenzy Atkinson (1) Laney Little (1), Andi Zannis (1) and Kate Flannagan (1) all had hits as the Giants pulled out the 4-3 win. In their second game of pool play, the Giants suffered their first of 2 defeats of the tournament, which forced them into the Losers bracket. The Giants managed just 1 hits in the game (Makayle Mann (1)) and Giants pitching allowed just 1 earned run in the 5-1 loss.
The next bracket play opponent for the Birmingham Giants 10u was White Lightning. Grace Turner and Makayla Mann combined to allow just 2 runs over 5 innings and Paisley Howell (1), Kenzy Atkinson (1), Laney Little (2, 1 3B), and Andi Zannis (1) all had hits as the Giants stayed alive with the 4-2 win. The next opponent for the Giants Buford Fastpitch. Makayla Mann allowed 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 7 and the Giants offense pounded out 12 hits Paisley Howell (2), Kenzy Atkinson (1), Makayla Mann (1), Laney Little (1), Kate Flannagan (1), Kinly Seibert (2, 1 2B), Grace Turner (2), Addison Bailey (1) and Brooklyn Davlin (1) all had hits for the Giants in the 9-1 win. the win moved the Giants into the Semi-Final to again face the GA Impact.
Grace Turner allowed just 3 hits over 4 innings and Makayla Mann closed out the final 2 innings of the 3-2 win. Kenzy Atkinson (1), Andi Zannis (1), and Grace Turner all had hits for the Giants as the win moved the Giants into the Fianls to face the Atlanta Vipers. In the finals hits from Paisley Howell (1), Makayla Mann (2), Kate Flannagan (2). Kinley Seibert (1), and Adison Bailey were not enough as the Giants fell 8-5 after leading the entire game to a 4 run final inning from the Vipers.
