Starting their tournament in the USSSA state tournament on Saturday October 16, the Birmingham Giants 12u Softball team started their Saturday with their first pool play game against the Shockers 12u. Harper Riley allowed just 1 hit over the first 2 innings, and Kendal Burch closed out the final inning of the 6-3 win. At the plate Harper Riley (2, 1 3B), Alyssa Broome (1), Ralee Burgett (1), and Skylan Dyson (2B) all had hits in the Giants win. In their second game of pool play, Kendal Burch and Skylan Dyson allowed no hits over 4 innings in tossing the Giants 98th No Hitter all time and Ralee Burgett (1), Addison Praytor (1), Jessica Whitaker (2B), and Abigail Erreca (1) all had hits as the Giants cruised to the 11-0 win.
The win moved the Giants into bracket play as one of the top seeds, and set their first round match up with Southern Vortex. Alyssa Broome started the game in the circle, striking out 9 over 4 innings, while allowing just 1 hit. The Giants offense exploded for 10 runs on 12 hits (Harper Riley (2 2B), Khloe Kennedy (2), Ralee Burgett (1), Alyssa Broome (1), Addison Praytor (1), Haylee Gothard (2), Jessica Whitaker (2) and Skylan Dyson (1) ). The win moved the Giants into the next round to match up with the Vexus Hartline 2010.
Kendal Burch struck out 5 vexus hitters over 3 innings, and Alyssa Broome closed out the final inning for the Giants. Offensively the Giants were led by Khloe Kennedy (1), Addison Praytor (1), Haylee Gothard (1), Sophia Carroll (3B), Kendal Burch (1), Abigail Erreca (1) and Skylan Dyson (3B), all who had hits as the Giants came away with a 7-4 win. The win moved the Giants into the Semi Finals to face Vexus X.
Alyssa Broome struck out 4 over 3 innings, while allowing just 1 hit. Haylee Gothard (2B), Abigail Erreca (1), and Skylan Dyson (1) had the only hits, but 8 walks pushed the Giants 8 runs across as the walked to an 8-0 win, and a birth in the State Finals.
In the fiansl, Kendall Burch struck out 8 hitters over 3 innings, but the Giants hitters managed only 2 hits (Ralee Burgett (1), and Alyssa Broome(1)) as the Giants fell 5-1, finishing 2nd on the day.
