8u Birmingham Giants softball finished 2nd

Playing in their first tournament of the spring 2022 season in Boaz, the Birmingham Giants 8u Softball team post a 3-1 mark and brought home a second place finish. In their first pool play game the Giants were paired up with the Phenoms. The Giants offense received hits from Malia Hickman (3), Ava Atchley (2), Paizley Verwyst (2), Harmoni Hooks (1), Charlott Erecca (2), Peneolpe Walker (1), Abigail Mitchell (2), Brynleigh Jones (1), Arwen Castleberry (1), and Madison Bausch (1), which powered them to the 15-14 win. Next up for the Birmingham Giants 8u was the Southern Force 8u. In a game that was not close, the Giants 3runs in the first inning, 8 in the second and 7 in the 4th on their way to an 18-1 win. At the plate Malia Hickman (3), Ava Atchley (3), Paizley Verwyst (3), Harmoni Hooks (2), Charlotte Erecca (3), Peneolpe Walker (2), Abigail Mitchell (2), Brynleigh Jones (1), Arwen Castleberry (2), and Madison Bausch (1) all had hits as the Giants rolled to the top seed heading into bracket play.

In their first game of bracket play, the Giants were again matched up with Southern Force. With 17 runs through the first 3 innings, the Giants moved on to the championship with a 17-9 win. Offensively the Giants were paced by Malia Hickman (2), Ava Atchley (2), Paizley Verwyst (1), Harmoni Hooks (2), Charlotte Erecca (1), Peneolpe Walker (2), Abigail Mitchell (1), Rowan Shackleford (2), Brynleigh Jones (1), Arwen Castleberry (1), Madison Bausch (2), and Brynleigh Price (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win. The win moved the Giants into the Championship to face the Twisters.

In the championship the Giants started slow and were not able to catch up to the twisters eventually falling 10-7. Hits for the Giants came from Malia Hickman (1), Ava Atchley (2), Paizley Verwyst (1), Charlotte Erecca (2), Peneolpe Walker (1), Abigail Mitchell (1), Rowan Shackleford (1), Brynleigh Jones (1), Arwen Castleberry (1), Madison Bausch (1) and Brynleigh Price (1) but it was not enough as the Giants finished 2nd.
