In the first ever travel tournament played at the New Bill Noble park in Gardendale the Birmingham Giants Softball 12u-Lathan posted a 5-2-1 record to reach the championship game , where the game was called due to storms. In the First game of pool play the Giants faced off with Giants pitching combined to toss the clubs 108th No hitter all time (Grace Turner and Marilyn Hayes) and the Giants offense punded out 12 Hits and 15 Runs (Calee Guin (2, 1 3B), Hadlee Mason (1), Kate Flannagan (2, 1 HR), Marilyn Hayes (2 , 1 2B), Chloe Wade (2, 1 3B), Grace Turner (1), Chloe Taylor(1) and Andi Zannis (1) in the 15-0 win over the Birmingham Buzz.
In their 2nd game of pool play the Giants were matched up with the Lady Dukes. Birmingham Giants pitching allowed just 1 hit over 3 innings, while striking out 2, ( Chloe Taylor and Kate Flannagan) and the Giants offense pounded out 16 hits and 17 runs on hits from Calee Guinn (3, 1 3B), Hadlee Mason (1), Kate Flannagan (2), Marilyn Hates (2 2 2B), Chloe Wade (1), Grace Turner (2), Khloe Hill (1), Chloe Taylor (2), and Andi Zannis (2). In their 3rd game of pool play the Giants and the Thunderbolts paired off. The Giants pitching allowed just 1 earned run, but the offense managed just 3 hits ( Grace Turner (2) and Marilyn Hayes (1) as the Giants fell 3-0.
In their first bracket play game, the Giants seeded to play the Firecrackers. In a game that was never close the Giants jumped out to a 6-1 first inning lead, and never looked back in the 11-2 win. Chloe Taylor and grace Turner combined for the win in the circle, striking out 4 over 4 innings, and the Giants offense for the 3rd time in 4 games had 10 or more hits, Calee Guin (1), Kzate Flannagan (HR), Chloe Wade (2, HR , 3B), Grace Turner (1), Khloe Hill (2B), Chloe Taylor (3B), Kinley Sebert (2), and Andi Zannis (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win.
In their second bracket play game the Giants again faced the Thunderbolts, Kate Flannagan and Marilyn Hayes allowed just 1 hit and no earned runs over 4 innings, and hits from Calee Guinn (2B) , Kinley Seibert (1) and Andi Zannis were not enough as the Giants dropped into the losing bracket with a 4-2 loss. In their next bracket play game the Giants were matched up with the Birmingham Mustangs. Jumping out to a 7-3 lead after 2 innings, the Giants went on to a 11-3 win. Marilyn Hayes went the distance in the circle for the win and Calee Guin (2), Hadlee Mason (3), Marilyn Hayes (2B), Chloe Wade (3, 2 3B), Grace Turner (3), Khloe Hill (2), and Kinley Sebert (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win. The win moved the Giants to the Semi Final to face White Lightning.
Chloe Taylor and Grace Tuner combined to allow to 3 runs over 5 innings and the Giants offense was paced by Hadlee Mason (1), Marilyn Hayes (2, 1 2B), Chloe Wade (1), Chloe Taylor (2, 1 2B), Kinley Sebert (1), and Andi Zannis (1) and the Gints pushed 4 runs across on their 8 hits for the win and a birth in the Championship. The Championship was cancelled after a scoreless first inning because of weather, and the Giants came home with 2nd place.
