Three Birmingham Giants will begin their high school baseball careers with their respective varsity teams. Noah Hathorn , Ethan Thrasher, and Mikey McGuire, all underclass man have all been notified by their respective schools of the honor.
Noah “Hat” Hathorn, a 7th grade left handed pitcher and first baseman will be on the varsity roster at Victory Christian private school. ( player page)
Ethan “Big Country” Thrasher a catcher and pitcher for the 2a Hatton Hornets will also begin his high school career as an 8th grader this spring (player page).
Mikey McGuire will begin his varsity career as a freshman pitcher, catcher, outfielder for the 5a St. Clair County Saints (player page).
Preston “Smurf” Jones will be on the roster for “A” team for 5a North Jefferson middle school, which is a team comprised of mostly 8th graders. Jones a 7th grader will play catcher, pitcher, and outfield. (Player page).
Hunter “yeah yeah” Garcia will split time between his 5A Moody JV and middle school teams as a 7th grade pitcher, and third baseman, and outfielder (Player page).
Coach Rob Kersey said of the honors for the team, “This team works extremely hard, and the success they are having is no accident, they have earned it, we are very proud of them, wish them all good luck, and can’t wait for april.” Kersey went on to say, ” we have always said our strength is our pitching and catching , and to see these kids achieving is just really exciting.”
