Freeman goes deep as Birmingham Lady Giants fall to eliminators

In their second tournament in 2014 the Birmingham Lady Giants finished a disappointing 1-2.

After losing early to the Columbus peaches, 6-2, allowing 5 unearned runs, the Lady giants got on track, beating the Eliminators  7-3 in their last pool play game. In game one of pool play, one of the few highlights came on Abby Kelloggs triple and stealing of home.

In game 2 relief work from Elizabeth “shocker” wheat who work 2 1/3 scoreless to slam the door on the Eliminators. Led by Kinley Hall(2-2, double) and hits from Abby Kellogg (double), Lauren Cabiness, Cassi Williams, Kamya Hampton, Kim Livingston, Olivia Renta,  the Lady Giants offensive out put over whelmed the Eliminators with 5 first inning Runs.

The bracket play game matched the Lady Giants against the Eliminators once again. Getting a quality start from Elizabeth Wheat (2 earned runs) over 3 1/3 innings, the Giants entered the final inning down 5-0. In the final inning, Molly “Rodeo” Freeman hit an 0-1 pitch to the fence in right center for a home run, driving in 3.  2 hits from Cassi Williams, and 1 each from Lauren Cabiness, and Olivia Renta, and a triple from Ka’mya Hampton and fine defensive play from Hadley Andrews was not enough as the Giants  fell 5-3 to be eliminated from the tournament.
