The Birmingham Giants 15u baseball team went 1-1 on the weekend, finishing the fall season with a victory over Grip and Rip, and a loss to the panthers.
With the conclusion of the season, the 15u Giants finished their fall campaign at 7-3-3, and a complete 2014 record of 19-15-3.
In game 1 of the double header the Giants rolled to a 9-1 victory behind the pitching of Noah Hathorn, who worked 3 scoreless innings, Mikey McGuire, and new comer Gaitlin Roberson. In a first in Giants history, the Giants ended the third inning with a Triple Play, (Tyler Miller, Stone Favrot, Joey Schramm ).
Offensively the Giants were led by, Joey Schramm (1), Mikey McGuire (1), Gaitlin Roberson (2, 2b), Quenton Kersey (2), Jamie Rainer (2), Tyler Miller (1), Hunter Garcia (2). The Giants launched an 11 hit 9 run attack to win 9-1.
In game 2, the Giants got off to a Rocky start with 6 unearned runs in the first 2 innings, and they never recovered losing 9-4.
Offensively the Giants were led by, Joey Shramm (1), Mikey McGuire (1), Gaitlin Roberson (1,2b), Tyler Miller (1), and Hunter Garcia (1) but it wasn’t enough as the Giants fell 9-4. Defensively the Giants were led by a first to home double play, capped by a tremendous play by catcher Ethan Thrasher.
The double header concluded a good short season for the Giants. It was a season, where the Giants added 2 new comers Gaitlin Roberson, and Ben Jackson to strengthen an already strong line, which has them excited about play resuming in late April.
