Birmingham Giants 11u kick off fall campaign with 3rd place finish

In their first tournament in 11u Giants team history, the Birmingham Giants newest team finished 3rd, losing their first semi final game 5-4 to eventual tournament winner.

imageCarson Berry  led off the first inning, and hit the first ever pitch to the 11u Giants to the right center field wall for a double, and the Giants scored 4 times in the top of the first. In the bottom of the first, a few Giant defensive misque’s cost them the lead, and they did not recover, coming up on the short end of a 9-7 loss. Offensively the Giants were lead by Carson Berry (2, 2b, HR), Egan Lowery (1), Sylas Amick (1), Ken Beck (1, 2b), and J.B. Landrum (1, 2b).

Carson Berry started the game on the mound, followed by Egan Lowery and Sylas Amick.

imageIn their second game of pool play, the Giants faced off with Prodigy. In the bottom of the second inning, the Giants sent a club record 19 hitters to the plate, scoring 16 runs, enrout to an 18-6 win. Every hitter in the Giants line up notched a hit in the win. Offensively the Giants were led by Carson Berry (3, 2 2b), Egan Lowery (2, 2b), Sylas Amick (2), K.J Beck (2), Peyton Jackson (1, 2b), J.B Landrum (2), Kevin Hurley (2, 2b), Peyton Berendt (2), Gavin Clanton (1), and adze Kemp (1). K.j beck (1-0)worked 3 innings for the Giants first win, striking out 4, walking 1,  and Peyton Berendt (h1) closed out the game for the win.

imageThe Giants started bracket play as the 3 seed, facing off with hustle baseball. Sylas Amick pitched all 4 innings, allowing just 3 earned runs, striking out 7, and offensively the Giants got hits from Carson Berry (1,3b), Sylas Amick (1,3b), K.J Beck (1), and Peyton Jackson (1) but it wasn’t enough as the Giants fell 5-4.

The Giants will play again September 19th.
