The 02 Birmingham Giants finished their showcase double header at AUM on Saturday, playing both games against the Spring 2015 NSA champions, the a Elite Sox from Dothan.
In Game 1, the Giants struggled through an error filled first, surrendering 6 unearned runs, trailing after the 2nd inning 6-1, and falling 7-2 by the end if the 5th. Alli Parker came on in relief, allowing just 3 hits over the next 4 innings, and hits from Blakely Burr (1), and Alli Parker were all the Giants mustered in the first game.
Blakely Burr took the Circle in game 2, pitching all 5 innings, allowing just 2 hits, and 3 unearned runs, striking out 3. Out hitting the sox in game 2, the Giants offense came from Lauren Cabiness (1), Elissa Glaze (2, 1 3b), Ka’Mya Hampton (3b), Kim Livingston (1), Alli Parker (1), and Kiley Cordell (1) were not enough as the Giants stranded 8 runners and fell 3-2, despite some outstanding defensive plays from Hadley Andrews and Kinley Hall.
The 02 Giants on the day allowed not a single earned run, and 6 hits total in the 2 games. Their next scheduled games are on Oct 3rd.
