16U Birmingham Giants sweep double header

The Birmingham Giants 16u Baseball playing on sunday in a double header Gulf Coast 15-16u Pro Elite at Pell City, swept their double header, to raise their season record to 3-1.

pc 16uIn game 1, Ethan Thrasher(1-1) took the hill to start the game, pitching the first 3 innings, allowing just 2 hits, with 3 strike outs, Mikey McGuire relieved him in the 4th, pitching 2 innings, allowing no hits, while striking out 3, before giving way to Ben Jackson, who closed out the final inning of the 5-0 win.

Offensively the Giants were led by Tyler Miller (1, 2b), Ethan Thrasher (1), Brock Shafer (2), Joey Schramm (1), and John Brown (1, 2b).

In game 2, Hunter Garcia(1-0) controlled the Elite bats for 3 innings, scattering 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 2, before Noah Hathorn closed out the final inning with the tying run on second base. Offensively the Giants received hits from Tyler Miller (1), and Hunter Garcia (1), but 11 walks led to the 6 Giants runs in the win. The Giants also stole 10 Bases, including 3rd base 4 times Shafer (3), Miller (4), McGuire (3), Jackson (1), Brown (1), and Garcia (1).

The 16u Giants play next at Birmingham Southern on Oct 25th.
