The Birmingham Giants 02 won their 5th and 6th straight games sunday at Jacksonville State University to run their season record to 9-4.
In game 1, Blakely burr (5-3) won her 5th game of the fall, going 2 innings in the circle, allowing no hit while striking out 2, before giving way to Ka’Mya Hampton, who pitched the final inning, also allowing no hits, while striking out 1, and Hadley Andrews had 4 assists from third base, completing the organizations 22nd no hitter all time. At the plate the Birmingham Giants were led by Ka’Mya Hampton (2 HR, 3B), Lauren Cabiness (1), Elissa Glaze (2), Blakely Burr (1), and Alli Parker (1), which led to the Giants 4 runs and the 5-0 shut out of going yard 02.
In game 2, the Giants starter Ka’Mya Hampton worked the first 2 innings, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 2. Ali Parker(2-0) took over in the 3rd innings, allowing just a couple of hits and 1 earned runs as the Giants entered the last inning in a 3-3 tie. In the top of the 4th, the Giants managed to push across the go ahead run in the 4-3 victory on hits by Lauren Cabiness (1), and Elissa Glaze (2, 22b). Offensively the Giants were led by Kim Livingston (1), Holly Helms(1), and Kylie Cordell(1).The win completed the sweep and inproved the Giants winning streak to 6, dating back to thier last tournament where they finished 1st with a 4-1 record.
The Giants will play next at the Univ. of Montevallo on October 24th.
