After Finishing the fall 2015 season with a 13-5 mark, and 3 trophy finishes, the 11u Birmingham Giants finished their first spring tournament with a 3-0-1 record and another first place finish. With a slow start for the Giants bats, the pitching for the Giants was exceptional all weekend, leading them to the tournament win, notching 32 k’s while allowing just 14 bb and just 8 hits in 23 innings of work, and picking off 2 runners and catching another stealing.
In Game 1, the Giants were matched with the Hoover Ballers. A quality start from Jarod Latta, who worked 2 innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 5, and Egan Lowery worked the middle 2 innings, striking out 2, and Sylas Amick came on in the last inning and struck out the side, giving the Giants 10k’s in the game.

At the Plate, the Giants offense struggled to start, but a timely RBI from Dez Kemp allowed the Giants to escape with a Tie, 2-2. Hits from Carson Berry (1), John Pickens (1), Jarod Latta (1), amd Gavin Clanton (1), led the way.
In Game 2, the Giants faced off with the Trussville Baseball Club in what turned out to be the best game of the day. John Pickens made his first start for the Giants, Pitching 2 innings, allowing no hits and just the lone Huskey Run. Sylas Amick (1-0) faced 3 batters in the 3rd, striking out all 3 picking up the win , and Peyton Berendt pitched the final 2 innings to earn the save.

Giants pitching on saturday allowed just 1 run, and struck out 7 on their way to the Organizations 24th No Hitter All Time. At the plate, the Giants were paced by Carson Berry (1), Sylas Amick (1), Jarod Latta (2), J.B Landrum (1), and Kevin Hurley (1). The win left the Giants 1-0-1 and a 2nd seed going into Bracket play.
In their first game on sunday the Giants were again matched with the Huskeys from Trussville. Carson Berry started the game, lasting 1.2 but with 2 outs in the second inning, the Giants just could not find the 3rd out, committing an uncharacteristic 3 errors with 2 outs allowing 4 unearned runs. John Pickens came on to relieve Berry, going 1.1 innings before giving way to Sylas Amick (2-0) who struck out 7 huskeys in 3 innings to earn the win.

Giants bats pounded out a 13 hit, 9 run attack, including a single in the last inning from Sylas Amick (2) that allowed the winning run to score on a wild pitch. Hits came from John Pickens (2, 1 2b) Jorod Latta (2), Kj Beck (1), Peyton Jackson (2), Kevin Hurley (2), Egan Lowery (1)and JB Landrum(1). The win propelled the Giants in to the Chanpionship game to face the Hoover Ballers.
Egan Lowery started the Championship game for the Giants, pitching 3 strong innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 4, and Peyton Berendt closed out the game on the mound as the Giants won easily 16-3. The Giants lineup wore out Hoover pitching, hammering out 14 hits including 5 extra base hits, which included a home run from Jarod Latta, and John Pickens (2, 1 2b), Carson Berry (1), Syalas Amick (3), Egan Lowery (1 2b), Peyton Jackson (1) JB Landrum (1, 2b), Peyton Berendt (2, 1 2b) and Gavin Clanton (2).
The Giants will play next Saturday at Veterans field in Alabaster.
