The 16U Birmingham Giants entering their 9th year traveled to Jackson Miss to play in the NABF Regional Showcase over the weekend. Playing in the showcase were several nationally known teams, and players that have signed or been drafted, or completed their first season of college baseball.
Thunder 3 Giants 2
In Game 1, the Giants faced off with the MC Thunder program from South Mississippi. Cody Snow worked 5 innings on the mound allowing just 1 earned run and scattering 4 hits , while striking out 7. Chris Salter closed out the final inning. At the plate the Giant offense got hits from Gavin Hudson (1, 2b), Cody Snow (1, 2b), and Joey Schramm (1) and Mikey McGuire (1).
96ers 9 Giants 7
In Game 2 the Giants matched up with the 96ers (established in 1980). Using several pitchers in the game including Zac Moller, Mikey McGuire, Chris Salter and Ben Jackson. Offensively the Giants were paced by Gavin Hudson (1, 2b), Mikey McGuire (1, 2b), Cody Snow (2), Connor Miles (2), Ethan Thrasher (1), and Joey Schramm (1).
Drillers 8 Giants 7
In their 3rd game the Giants were matched with the TX/ARK/LA Drillers. Using several pitchers (Hunter Garcia, Ben Jackson, and Chris Salter). Offensively the Giants were led by Gavin Hudson (1), Mikey McGuire (1), Cody Snow (2, 12b), Conner Miles (1)John Brown (1), Tyler Miller(1), Ethan Thrasher (1), and Stone Favrot (1).
Giants 4 N.O Chiefs 2
Conner Miles started the final game of the Showcase for the Giants on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings allowing just 3 hits amd 1 earned run while striking out 3, befor being relieved by Ben Jacks who earned the 1.2 inning save, getting out of runners on 2nd and 3rd in the 6th inning with no outs jam, allowing no runs.
