Birmingham Giants Baseball wins 200th All Time, finish 2nd

trophyThe 12u Birmingham Giants Continues their fall season sunday in Calera posting a 3-1 record , finishing second, and collecting the Organizations 200th Baseball win (467th Combined) All Time, and setting a club record for most runs in a game with 26, and posting back to back shutouts.

In Game 1, the Birmingham Giants offense exploded with 26 runs on 24 hits from Carson Berry (2, 2 2b), KJ Beck (3 , 2 2b), Sylas Amick (4, 2 HR), Jarod Latta (2, 1 2b), Bryant Akridge (2), Gavin Clanton (2), Peyton Jackson (2, 1 2b), Egan Lowery (2, 2 2b),  JB Landrum(2), Kevin Hurley (2) and Eayan Thomas (1).  On the Mound Jarod Latta picked up the win , pitching just the 1st inning, striking out 2, Egan Lowery and Eayan Thomas both pitched in relief to close out the win.

Bryant Akridge Birmingham Giants

In game 2, the Giants faced off with the Gordo Canes, Bryant Akridge started the game on the mound, pitching 3 strong innings, striking out 5, and Carson Berry Closed out the last inning, striking out 3 of the 4 hitters he faced. At the plate, a 7 run 2nd inning put the game out of reach, Hits from Carson Berry (1, 2b), KJ Beck (3, 2 2b, 1 3b), Sylas Amick (1), Bryant Akridge (1), Kevin Hurley (1), Gavin Clanton (2, 1 2b), Egan Lowery (2b), and JB Landrum (1) posted the 12 runs in the 12-0 win. The win seated the Giants first over all going into bracket play.

In Bracket play the Giants faced off with the Patriots. After surrendering a run in the top of the first, Jarod Latta setteled down, pitching 4 1/3 strong innings  striking out 7, and Sylas Amick struck out the last 2 hitters he faced with the tying runs on 2nd and 3rd to preserve the win. Offensively the Giants were paced by Carson Berry (1), KJ Beck (1), Sylas Amick (2), Jaron Latta (2), Kevin Hurley (2), Gavin Clanton (1), Peyton Jackson (1), Eayan Thomas (1), and JB Landrum (1), and the Giants gained the 7-5 win.

The win moved the Giants into familiar territory in the Championship game as the top seed. Despite surrendering only 2 hits, while producing 5 of their own the Giants fell 6-4 stranding the tying runs on 2nd and 3rd in the final frame. On the mound Sylas Amick pitched  2 1/3 striking out 3, and Bryant Akridge pitched 2 innings striking out 3 and Carson Berry closed out the game recording the final 2 outs.  At the plate Hits came from Sylas Amick (1), Carson Berry (1), Kevin Hurley (1), Eayan Thomas (1), and JB Landrum (1).

The Giants are now 6-2-1 on the season, and have amassed a a 53-23-3 record since their start last fall.
