After finishing first in their second tournament, the 04 Birmingham Giants followed that effort up with a second place finish in their 3rd tournament, posting a 3-2 record, running their season record to 9-4 over all. In their first game of pool play the Giants were matched with the Red Storm. Raegan Thrasher started the game, pitching all 3 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 3 runs while striking out 2. At the plate Alyssa Faircloth had the only hit for the Giants as they fell 5-3.
In their second game of pool play the Giants faced off with the Riptide. Jenna York pitched all 3 innings allowing no runs on 3 hits while striking out 3 for the win. The Giants offense was paced by Alyssa Faircloth (1), Raegan Thrasher (1) and Kalea Hewitt (HR). The win sent the Giants in to bracket play and a first round game with the Birmingham Blitz.
Raegan Thrasher worked all 3 innings in the circle for the win for the Giants, striking out 3 and allowing 4 hits in the 9-2 win. Nattie Miles (1), Trinity Holloway (2b), Jayla Hansen (1), Raegan Thrasher (1), Kalea Hweitt (2b), Mikayla Cardwell (1), Avery Odom (1), and Ryleigh Merritt (2b) all had hits to pace the Giants 9 run attack. The win move the Giants on to face the Spain Park Jags.
Alyssa Faircloth turned in the organizations 32nd no hitter all time and the 04 Giants 2nd in 2 weeks, allowing no hits over 4 innings, while striking out 3 in the 11-1 win. Offensively the Giants were led by Alyssa Faircloth (3), Nattie Miles (1), Jenna York (2b), Jayla Hansen (1), Raegan Thrasher (2), Kalea Hewitt (1), Mikayla Cardwell (1), and Avery Odom (1) who all had hits for the Giants, the win propelled them in to the Championship game for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.
In the Championship game, 9 unearned runs in the first inning sunk the Giants, as they went on to finish 2nd by an 11-2 score. Alyssa Faircloth (2b), Jenna York (1), and Avery Odom (2b) had the only hits for the Giants. The Giants will resume their schedule on October 8th.
