The 03 Birmingham Giants returned to action Saturday with a 2nd place finish in their 3rd tournament of the fall. Led by their trademark defense, the Giants surrendered just 9 runs in 5 games en route to the 2nd place finish. In Game 1 the Giants faced off with Alabama Elite, Blakely Burr took the circle, allowing juts 2 hits over 3 innings, while striking out 3, while Giant hits came from Ka’Mya Hampton (1), Blakley Burr (1), and Whitney Sellers (1) in the 4-1 loss.
In game 2 of pool play the Giants were matched up with the Strykers. Ka’Mya Hampton surrendered just 2 runs 1 hit , while striking out 4 in the 8-2 win. Hits for the Giants came from Piper Lowery (HR), Ka’Mya Hampton (3B), Kailey Hicks (1), and Whitney Sellers (1).
The win moved the Giants on to bracket play to face the Mud Rockers, Blakely Burr took the Circle and allow no runs on 3 hits in the 12-0 win. At the plate, Reese Lowery (1), Ka’Mya Hampton (1), Blakely Burr (1), and Whitney sellers (1) all had hits for the Giants.
In their second game of bracket play the Giants again faced off with the strykers , and again the Giants prevailed with a 9-1 victory. Blakely Burr went all 3 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run, while striking out 4 strike outs. At the plate, hits from Reese Lowery (2), Lauren Dill (1), Ka’Mya Hampton (1), Blakely Burr (2), Whitney Sellers (1), and Kailey Hicks (1) led the Giants in the victory. The win moved the Giants into the Championship game to again face off with Alabama Elite.
Ka’Mya Hampton took the circle n the championship game, pitching all 3 innings, striking out 3 and allowing 2 unearned runs. At the plate, Piper Lowery (3B), and Kailey Hicks had the only 2 hits for the Giants in the 2-1 loss.
The 03 Birmingham Giants after a slow start to their fall campaign will be holding tryouts after their return to the championship run, and are looking for Pitchers, infielders, and all positions, looking for girls who want to be a part of something that is a great path to playing in the future.
