12u Birmingham Giants finish 3-1 in final fall tournament

The Birmingham Giants final 2016 tournament

In their final tournament of the fall, the Birmingham Giants 12u Baseball team posted a 3-1 mark, taking home the first place trophy in their bracket and finishing the season with a 19-7-1 record, and a 66-28-3 all time mark.  In their first game of pool play, the Giants faced off with South East Alabama, after leading for the entire game, the Giants allowed  South east to take the lead4-3 going into their final at bat, when Bryant Akridge doubled home the 2 go ahead runs for a walk off double.  Jarod Latta (6-0) started the game on the mound, pitching 4 solid innings, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 8, and Bryant Akridge(1-1) and Sylas Amick(5-3) closed out the game for the 5-4 win. At the plate The Giants offense came from KJ Beck (2, 12b), Sylas Amick (3), Jarod Latta (1), Peyton Jackson (2), Bryant Akridge (2b), and JB Landrum (1). 

image1The 12u Birmingham Giants next pool play game was against The Cru. The Giants led most of the game, but a late 2 run ralley allowed the Cru to hand the Giants their only loss of the day. The Giants offense exploded for 5 runs in the first inning and 6 in the game on hits from KJ Beck (1), Sylas Amick (HR), Peyton Jackson (2b) Eayan Thomas (1), Kevin Hurley (1), and JB Landrum (1). The loss seated the Giants first in thier bracket, and they received a forfit win to move them into the final against the Outlaws.

Sylas Amick took the hill and controlled the game from the start, over powering most of the opposing lineup, striking out 8 in 4 innings of work, on 51 pitches, allowing just a single hit. At the plate the Giants offense exploded for 8 runs in a game that ended on the mercy rule on hits from Egan Lowery (1), Sylas Amick (2, HR), Jarod Latta (2b), Bryant Akridge (2), Kevin Hurley (1), Gavin Clanton (1), and Eayan Thomas (1).

The win finished the Giants fall campaign with a 19-7-1 record.
