Continuing there winning ways, the 13u Birmingham Giants swept through the competition on saturday in Boaz. In their opening game of pool play the Giants were matched up with Rage. Eagan Lowery (2-1) started the game on the mound, pitching 3 solid innings, striking out 2, before KJ Beck closed out the final inning of the 12-1 win. At the plate, the Giants offense was paced by KJ Beck (HR), Bryant Akeridge (2), Sylas Amick (2B), Jarod Latta (2, 12B), Peyton Jackson (2, 1 3B), Kevin Hurley (1), Garrett Hall (1), Gavin Clanton (1), and Eayan Thomas (1) in the 12 run outburst.
In game 2 of Pool play, the Giants were matched up with the River Bandits. At the Plate the Giants offense was led by KJ Beck (1), Bryant Akeridge (1), Sylas Amick (1), Jarod Latta (2B), Kevin Hurley (1), Ian Dabbs (3, 12B), Egan Lowery (2), Garrett Hall (1), Gavin Clanton (1), and Eayan Thomas (2). Jarod Latta (4-2) tossed 4 strong innings, striking out 6, before giving way to Bryant Akeridge, who closed out the final inning of the 14-4 win. The win seated the Giants first heading into bracket play.
Playing in the Championship game, the Giants again were matched up with the Rage. Sylas Amick (3-0) started the game on the mound, pitching all 4 innings, striking out 8 in the 11-1 win. At the plate, hits came from KJ Beck (2), Sylas Amick (3), Jarod Latta (3B), Ian Dabbs (2), Eagan Lowery (1), Garrett Hall (1), Kevin Hurley (2B), Gavin Clanton (2B), and Eayan Thomas (1).
The Giants will play next on the 22nd in Oxford.
