The 11u Birmingham Giants playing in their first tournament of the spring started slowly but tore through the competition in bracket play to finish as tournament champions.
Their first match up of the day had the Giants facing off with the Patriots. After falling behind early 4-0, the Giants closed the gap to 4-3 but could come no closer in the 4-3 loss. In their first game of bracket play, the Giants again faced off with the Patriots, this time with a much different result, jumping put to a 9-0 lead after 3 and eventually winning 12-3. Hits from Ethan Bucher (1), Kolton Hudgins (1), Caden Cain (1), Max Hollingsworth (1), Aubrey Sanders (2), Jamison Green (2), Isiah Miles (1), and Trevor Cox (1) paced the 10 hit , 12 run attack. Ethan Bucher pitched 3 innings, striking out 3, and Caden Cain closed out the win, for the 800th for the Giants all time.
The win, the Giants 800th all time, moved the 11u Giants into the championship game to face off again with the Panthers from Pelham. Ethan bucher started the championship game, allowing just 2 hits over 4 innings, while striking out 5, and Max Hollingsworth struck out the side to close out the 11-1 win.
