The 11u Birmingham Giants raised their season record to 19-11 overall and swepts their way through bracket play to win their latest tournament this spring. After struggling through pool play, dropping their first 2 games 9-3 and 7-2, The Giants outscored their opponents 20-8 in bracket play. In game 1 of pool play, the Giants faced off with Mayham, falling behind 6-2 and eventually falling 9-3. At the plate the Giants offense received hits from Alex Guthrie (2), Kolton Hudgins (1), Max Hollingsworth (1), and Karrington Daniels (1) to push across their 3 runs.
In Game 2 of pool play, the Giants offense only managed to push across 2 runs, on hits from Alex Guthrie (2B), Kolton Hudgins (1), Max Hollingsworth (2), Brodie Jackson (1) and Isiah Miles (1) in the 7-2 loss.
In the first game of bracket play, Max Hollingsworth to the mound, allowing just 3 runs over 4 innings on 3 hits while striking out 5. At the plate Alex Guthrie (2 2B), Kolton Hudgins (1), Caden Cain (2, 1 HR), Max Hollingsworth (3, 2 2B), Aubrey Sanders (1), Karrington Daniels (1), Chris Jackson (1), Trevor Cox (2), Isiah Miles (1), and Parker Stewart all had hits as the Giants cruised to a 13-3 win. The win put the Giants into the Championship game to face the Jays.
Max Hollingsworth started the game for the Giants, pitching the first inning, before Caden Cain relieved him in the 2nd, and pitched the final 5 innings, allowing just 4 hits, while striking out 7. Offensively the Giants were led by Caden “Cainzilla” Cain who became the 3rd Giants baseball player (4th time) to hit 2 Home Runs in a game, and the first to do it in a championship game, his 3rd on the day, 7th of the season(3 away from the club record of 10), Alex Guthrie (2B), Max Hollingsworth (2), Brodie Jackson (2B), Chris Jackson (1), Trevor Cox (1), Isiah Miles (1), and Parker Stewart (1) in bringing home the tournament win.
