7u Birmingham Giants World Series Title

The Birmingham Giants 7u, fresh off their second state title, followed that result with a USA Playmakers World Series title on Friday, Saturday and sunday in Pelham. The 6 wins they posted in the tournament raised their season record to 44-4. In game 1 of pool play, the Giants were paired with Warrior Baseball. Offensively the Giants posted 13 runs in the first 2 innings, on their way to a 16-1 win. Cohen Thompson (3), Keston Beck (3), Bbrody Flack (2), Rian Eatmon (2), Marcus Bryant (2), Lucas Busby (2), Brady Jenkins (2), Zander Leamon (1), John Bryant Fowler (2), Brayden Stephens (1), and Jason Green (2) all had hits for the rolling Giants offense. 

In game 2 of pool play, the Giants next opponents were the Alabama Braves. Cohen Thompson (2), Keston Beck (3), Brody Flack (3), Rian Eatmon (2), Lucas Busby (1), Zander Leamon (2), John Bryant Fowler (1), Conner Dockery (2), Brayden Stephens (1), and Jason Green (2) all had hits as the Giants cruised to a 15-7 win. The win seated the Giants as the number 1 seed overall going into bracket play.

The first opponent in bracket play was a familiar one, PTB. After trailing 7-4 through 3 innings, the Giants exploded for 10 runs over the final 2 innings, while not allowing any further scoring by PTB on their way to a 14-7 win. Cohen Thompson (3), Keston Beck (2), Brody Flack (1), Rian Eatmon (1), Marcus Bryant (3), Lucas Busby (2), Zander Leamon (1), John Bryant Fowler (1), and Jason Green (2) all had hits for the Giants offense.

The win moved the Giants on to the next round to face the North Alabama Braves. Cohen Thompson (2), Keston Beck (2), Brody Flack (2), Rian Eatmon (3), Brady Jenkins (2), Zander Leamon (1), John Braynt Fowler (1), Conner Dockery (1), Brayden Stephens (1), and Jason Green (1) all had hits in the 9-3 win.

The win moved the Giants into the Semi Final game to match up with the Nationals. In a game that was close through out, the Giants used a 7 run 4th inning to pull away with a 15-11 win and a spot in the world series finals. Cohen Thompson (2), Keston Beck (3), Brody Flack (2), Rian Eatmon (2), Marcus Bryant (3), Lucas Busby (2), Brady Jenkins (2), Zander Leamon (1), John Bryant Fowler (1), Conner Dockery (1), and Brayden Stephens (1) had hits for the Giants in the win.

With the win, the Giants became the champions of the winners bracket, which meant the would have to be beaten twice in the finals to be beaten out. In the championship game, the Giants opponent was the Homewood Patriots. The Patriots jumped out early grabbing an 11-2 lead after 2 innings, a lead the Giants would not recover from, eventually losing 13-7. Cohen Thompson (1), Brody Flack (2), Rian Eatmon (2), Marcus Bryant (2), Lucas Busby (1), Brady Jenkins (1), Zander Leamon (1), and John Bryant Fowler (1) all had hits in the defeat. The Loss, the first in their last 35 games meant there would have to be a second game for the winner to be declared.

In game 2 of the World Series finals, The Giants wasted no time in regaining their winning ways, Jumping out to an 8-2 lead, on their way to a 11-3 victory. Cohen Thompson (2), Keston beck (2), Brody Flack (3),Rian Eatmon (2), Marcus Bryant (2), Lucas Busby (1), Brady Jenkins (1), Conner Dockery (1), and Brayden Stephens (1) all had hits as the Giants offense opened the door while the Giants defense slammed it, only allowing 3 runs in the finals victory.
