The 06 Birmingham Giants after starting slow in their fall campaigned rolled through bracket play coasting to their first tournament win of the season. In their first game of pool play the Giants faced off with the Titans from Tuscaloosa. Despite Giant pitching striking out 5 and allowing just 2 hits, the Giant defense surrendered 6 unearned runs on their way to a 6-2 loss. Goose Reed struck out 4 over 3 innings and Madison George closed out the final inning striking out 1, at the plate Madison Miller (2, 1 2B) and Madison Feltman (1) both had hits for the Giants.
In game 2 of pool play for the Giants, the defense was again in a giving mood, allowing 10 unearned runs to the renegades, while Giants Pitching surrendered just 3 hits while striking out 5 (Madison George 2, Monica Rose 3) and at the plate Madison Miller (2), Monica Rose (2B), Anna Grace Bush (1), and Destiney Brashears (1) all had hits for the Giants in the loss.
Their pool play record standing at 0-2 the Giants were seated at the 4 sead heading into bracket play where they were again matched up with the Tuscaloosa Titans, this time with a different result. Ainsley Boyd took the circle, striking out 5 over 4 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run along the way for the win. At the plate, Madison Miller (1), Kamile Carter (2, 1 3B), Monica Rose (2, 1 2B), Anna Grace Bush (2, 1 2b), Destiney Brashears (1) and Mallorie Thompson (1) all had hits as the Giants grabbed the victory 7-1. The win moved the Giants into the finals to play the Renagades again, and again this time with a drastically different result.
In the Championship, Destiney Brashears started the game in the circle, striking out 2 over 3 innings, and Ainsley Boyd closed out the final inning of the Giants 8-4 win. At the plate, the Giats offense erupted for 10 hits and 8 runs, Madsion Miller (1), Madison Feltman (1), Monica Rose (3, 2 3B), Anna Grace Bush (2, 1 3B), Lailah Player (1), Destiny Brashears (1), and Ainsley Boyd (1) all had hits for the Giants as the jumped out to a 5-0 lead and cruised to 8-4 victory and their first championship of the season.
