The Birmingham Giants 04 softball won their first tournament in anniston on saturday, posting a 3-1 mark and tossing a no hitter along the way. In the first game of pool play, Trinity Britnell tossed 4 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 earned run, but the Giants offense managed just 2 hits (Nattie Miles(1), Kalea Hewitt (1)) as the Giants came up on the short end of a 4-3 score.
In game 2 of pool play, Alyssa Faircloth took the circle and tossed the organizations 59th no hitter all time, allowing no hits over 4 innings, while striking out 9.
At the plate, the Giants offense erupted for 7 hits and 10 runs in the 10-1 win. Sarah Williams (1), Nattie Miles (1), Alyssa Faircloth (2, 3B, HR), Ella Morgan Sears (1), Trinity Britnell(1),and Kaitlyn George (2B) all had hits for the Giants. The win seated the Giants second heading into bracket play.
In bracket play, the Giants were matched up with Diamonds Elite. Trinity Britnell tossed 3.2 innings, allowing 2 hits while striking out 3, and at the plate Nattie Miles (1), Alyssa Faircloth (2, 1 2B), Ella Morgan Sears (2B), Trinity Britnell (1), Kalea Hewitt (1), and Natalie Snow (1) all had hits as the Giants rebounded from trailing early 3-0 to an 8-3 win. The win moved the Giants into the finals to face Georgia Legacy.
Alyssa Faircloth started the game in the circle, pitching 4 innings of 1 hit ball, while striking out 9 , and Sarah Williams (1), Morgan Rice (!) and Kalea Hewitt (1) had hits as the Giants battled the Legacy for the 3-1 win and the tournament championship.
