12u Birmingham Giants bring home 2nd

The 12u Birmingham Giants ran their season record to 12-3 in the fall and captured 2nd place in their Perfect game tournament on sunday in alabaster. In their first game of pool play, the Giants were matched up with Team Easton and 8 runs in the first 2 innings got the Giants off and running to their eventual 13-3 win. On the Mound Alex Guthrie recorded 1 strike out over 2 innings and Alex Reynolds closed out the final inning for the Giants. At the plate Trevor Cox (1), Alex Guthrie (2B), Caleb Johnson (2), Max Hollingsworth (2), Jamison Green (2), Hoss Bensko (1), Kolton Hudgins (2), and Jay Fuller (1) all had hits for the Giants in the victory.

In game 2 of pool play, the Giants took on the Lightning Baseball. Daniel Stringfellow tossed 4 innings, allowing just 5 hits and 1 earned run in the 9-4 win. Offensively the Giants received hits from Jay Fuller (1), Alex Guthrie (2, 1 2B), Caleb Johnson (1), Kolton Hudgins (1), and Hoss Bensko(1) as the cruised to the victory and the 3 seed going into bracket play.

In their first game of bracket play, the Giants were matched up with Chelsea Baseball Club. Caden “Cainzilla” Cain tossed a complete game, allowing 3 hits over 4 innings, while striking out 4. At the plate Jay Fuller (2B), Caleb Johnson (HR), Daniel Stringfellow (2B), Cainzilla (2B), Max Hollingsworth (2), Jamison Green (1), and  Hoss Bensko(1) all had hits to lead the Giants to the 7-1 win.The win moved the Giants to the Semi Final to face TTown Devils.

Max Hollingsworth started the game in the Semi Final, allowing 5 hits and striking out 3 and Daniel Stringfello and Alex Reynolds closed out the 11-7 win for the Giants. Alex Guthrie (2, 1 2B), Caleb Johnson (1), Daniel Stringfellow (1), Cainzilla (3, 1 HR), Max Hollingsworth (1), Jamison Green (1), Alex Reynolds (1), and Hoss Bensko (2B) all had hits for the Giants as the win moved them into the Finals to face the Hoover Pirates.

In the finals Jay Fuller (1), Alex Guthrie (1), Caleb Johnson (2, 1 2B), and Alex Reynolds had hits for the Giants as the came up on the short end of an 11-1 loss and finishing the Giants second on the day.
