The 14/15u Birmingham Giants took a break from their showcase schedule to play their only tournament of the Fall season in Guntersville on saturday. Alex Bradford started the first game of pool play on the mound for the Giants, allowing 3 hits over 4 innings and just 3 runs against the 15u Chicawas from Huntsville. At the plate Andrew Kellum (2, 1 2b), Bryant Akeridge (2B), Mason Smallwood (1), Chase Cornelius (2B) all had hits for the Giants in the 8-3 win.
In game 2 of pool play, Braynt Akeridge started the game on the mound, tossing 3 innings, allowing 1 hits and no earned runs and Chase Cornelius closed out the game and the 5-4 win over Juice. At the plate, Tyler Ingle (2B), Cameron Harris (1), Mason Mullaney (1), and Bryant Akeridge(2), whos walk off single game the Giants the 5-4 win. The win seated the Giants first over all heading into bracket play.
In their first game of bracket play, Andrew Kellum started the game on the mound, allowing 1 earned run over 4 innings, while striking out 3 and Mason Mullaney closed out the final inning for the save with 3 strikeouts as the Giants won 6-4 over Juice. Offensively the Giants received hits from Tyler Ingle (2, 1 2B), Alex Bradford (2B), Cameron Harris (1), Mason Mullaney (1), Bryant Akeridge (1), and Dee Spears(1) in the win. The win moved the Giants into the championship game as the top seat.
In the championship game, Tyler Ingle started the game on the mound, lasting 5 1/3 innings, allowing 3 earned and 3 hits while striking out 5 and Mason Mullaney recorded the final out of the 5-3 loss. At the plate Alex Bradford (3B), Andrew Kellum (1), and Kevin Hurley (1) had hits for the Giants as they finished 2nd with a 3-1 record for the day and 13-4-3 on the fall the season.
