12u Birmingham Giants Baseball Notches First Tournament Victory of Spring

Playing in their first tournament of the season, the Birmingham Giants-Stone 12u posted a 3-1 record on their way to their first tournament win of the season. In game 1 of pool play, the Birmingham Giants faced off with the Jackets. 4 unearned runs in the first innings, 6 total, the Giants responded with 5 of their own, and going into the 5th and final inning the Giants trailed 7-6. After surrendering a few late runs, the Giants fell 11-6 to start their day.

In game 2 of pool play, Brody Jackson took the hill, allowing 2 hits while striking out 6, befor being relived by Cole Foster, who closed out the final 2 innings of the 8-3 win. At the plate Talon Whetstone (2), Cayden Knight (1), Caleb Jennings (3B), Kayden Woods (1), and Weston Burnett (2B) all had hits for the Giants in the win.

Entering bracket play the Giants were matched up with the Outlaws. Talon Whetstone started the game, allowing 2 hits and 1 run over 3 innings, while striking out 4, and Olen Bryant closed out the final inning of the 9-1 win. Offensively Cayden Kinght (1), Aubrey Sanders (1), Cole Foster (2 2Bs), Kayden Woods (1), and Devin Schmalz (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win. The win sent the Giants to the Championship game to face off with the North Jefferson Yankees.
