The 8u Birmingham Giants traveled to montgomery on saturday to face off with some South Alabama teams in the BPA Belt showdown. After a full day of play and 4 wins later the Giants emerged as champions yet again. In their first game of pool play, the Giants faced off with the Avengers. In a game that was never really close the Giants walked away with a 10-1 victory. The offense was paced by Zander Leamon (2), Ross Christy (1), Brody Flack (2), John Bryant Fowler (2), Weston Morton (2), Aaron Robinson (1), Justin Hill (2), Tyson Latham (1), and Kameron Laws (1), who all had hits.
In game 2 of pool play, the Birmingham Giants 8u were matched up with Stixx. Grabbing an early 5-0 lead, the Giants coasted to a 9-5 win. At the plate Ross Christy (2), Brody Flack (2), John Bryant Fowler (2), Weston Morton (1), Aaron Robinson (2), Justin Hill (1), Blake Freeman (3), Tyson Latham (2), and Kameron Laws (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win.
The win seated the Giants in bracket play as the top seed, and again facing off with the Stixx. In a game that was much closer, Zander Leamon drove in the game winning run on a single in the bottom of the 6th to score Kameron Laws and the Giants walked off a 7-6 win. At the plate Zander Leamon (2), Ross Christy (2), Brody Flack (2), John Bryant Fowler (2), Weston Morton (3), Aaron Robinson (2), Blake Freeman (2), Tyson Latham (3), and Kameron Laws (2) all had hits to send the Giants to the tournament finals once again.
In the Championship game, the Birmingham Giants had a much easier time, rolling to a convincing 16-1 win. Zander Leamon (2), Ross Christy (3), Brody Flack (3), John Bryant Fowler (2), Weston Morton (2), Aaron Robinson (2), Justin Hill (1), Blake Freeman (2), Tyson Latham (1), and Kameron Laws (2) all had hits as the Giants brought home another championship.
