The Birmingham Giants 8u Softball team ran its season record to 15-6 , posting a 3-1 mark on saturday in Millbrook, and grabbing another championship. Despite out hitting their first opponent in pool play, the Giants defense allowed 4 late runs in their only loss of the day to the Chelsea Swarm 9-7. Offensively the Giants were led by Natalia Mathews (2), Kendall Burch (3), Makenzie Sansing (2, HR), Kira Vines (3), Sophia Carroll (2), Addison Praytor (2), and Khloe Kennedy (2) all had hits in the loss.
In game 2 of pool play, the Giants were matched up with the Hit Squad 10. The Giants jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and finished with a 7-5 victory. At the plate Natalia Mathews (1), Kendall Burch (3), Makenzie Sansing (2), Skylan Dyson (2) Kira Vines (2), Sophia Carroll (1), Haylee Gothard (1), Addison Praytor (3), Khloe Kennedy (2) and Addison Bailey (1) all had hits in the win for the Giants. The win seated the Giants 2nd as they moved into bracket play.
In their first game of bracket play, the Giants again faced off with the Hit Squad 10u. The Giants again grabbed the lead early and finished with a 10-9 win. Natalia Mathews (2), Kendall Burch (2), Makenzie Sansing (1), Skylan Dyson (2) Kira Vines (3), Sophia Carroll (2), Haylee Gothard (1), Addison Praytor (1), Khloe Kennedy (3) and Abigail Erreca (1) powered the Giants offense into the finals to again face the Chelsea Swarm.
In the championship game, the Birmingham Giants again met up with the Chelsea Swarm. The Giants again jumped out to an early 11-6 lead after 4 innings, cruising to the 11-7 win and bringing home another championship for the Giants. Offensively the Giants received hits from Natalia Mathews (2), Kendall Burch (2), Makenzie Sansing (1), Skylan Dyson (1) Kira Vines (2), Sophia Carroll (2), Haylee Gothard (3), Addison Praytor (2), Khloe Kennedy (2) and Addison Bailey (1) to drive home the 11 runs in the victory.
