Playing in their first regular season tournament of the spring, the Birmingham Giants 13u Baseball team, after dropping both of their pool play games, swept through sunday to bring home the championship. Dawson Shoults started the first pool play game on the mound, allowing just 3 runs, 1 earned over 4 2/3 innings, while striking out 4 in the 4-1 loss. At the plate, the Giants managed just 3 hits Dawson Shoults (1), Braylon Hudson (1), and Hayden Dupree(1), and the othe offense produced only 1 run in the 4-1 defeat. In their second pool play game the Giants again managed just 2 hits Davis Cruce (1), and Anderson McBride (1) and their pitching struggled allowing 6 earned runs in the defeat. Leaving the fields with out a win saturday, the Giants returned sunday with a different mindset.
Dakota Cobb started game 1 of bracket play, tossing 7 innings, allowing 6 hits, while striking out 5, as the Giants pulled out a 5-3 win over Beehive 13u. At the plate Davis Cruce (1), CJ Okon (2B), Will Mize (1), John Lawrence (1), and Aiden Agee (1) all had hits in the Giants win over Beehive 13u. The win sent the Giants to the finals to face Show Stoppers 13u.
In the championship game, Aiden Agee entered the game in the bottom of the first with the bases loaded and 2 outs, throwing just 1 pitch, help the Giants limit the damage to 2 runs. Agee went on to throw 61/3 innings, allowing 3 hits striking out 4, and the Giants offense received hits from Braylon Hudson (1), Dallas Beck (1), Davis Cruce (2, 2B), Aiden Agee (1), Hayden Dupree (1), Will Mize (2B), Micah Childress (1), and Anderson McBride (2) as it produced 8 runs in the 8-5 win.
