In their first tournament playing up in the 12u division, the Birmingham Giants 10u team posted a 4-0 mark, grabbing the championship. In their first game of pool play, the Giants were matched up with All-Out. Annie Gregory started the game in the circle, allowing 4 runs while striking out 3, and Anna Leigh Price closed out the 9-5 win for the Giants by striking out 4 over 2 innings. At the plate Piper Rowe (1), Jamie Hugley (1), Hailey Nihols (1), Aubrey Liveoak (1), Ryleigh Hall (1), Cecily Johnson (1), Ava Brand (1), Annie Gregory (1), and Sophie Gromko (1) all had hits in the Giants win.
In game 2 of pool play, the Giants were matched up with Mystic Fast Pitch. Anna Leigh Price started the game in the circle, allowing no hits while striking out 3 over 2 innings, before being relieved by Annie Gregory who closed out the 7-2 win. Offensively Piper Rowe (1), Hailey Nichols (1), Kaydence Hays (1), Ryleigh Hall (1), Cecily Johnson (1), and Ava Brand (1), all had hits for the Giants in the win. The win seated the Giants first overall heading into bracket play.
In bracket play, the Giants were again matched up with all-out. Annie Gregory tossed 4 innings, allowing just 1 run, while striking out 5.Kaydence Hays (2B), Jamie Hugley (1),Ava Brand (10, Emily Vorster (1), and Sophie Gromko (HR) who broke the 1-1 tie in the 3rd inning with a 3 run home run to put the Giants on top for good, winning 6-1, and sending the Giants to the Championship game.
In the championship game the Giants were matched up with the Helena Heat. Anna Leigh Price tossed 4 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 7. At the plate Hailey Nichols (1), Aubrey Liveoak (1), who’s walk off hit game the Giants the win, and Emily Vorster (1) led the way as the Giants scratched across 2 runs and pulled out the win 2-1.
