Raising their season record to 9-9, the Birmingham Giants 12u-Stone posted 3 straight victories on their way to a 2nd place finish on saturday in vinemont. After dropping game 1, by a 6-5 score on a game wrongly stopped with time left on the clock, the Giants offense had come alive in the late innings, on hits from Talon Whetstone (1), Cayden Knight (1), Parker Stewart (2, 1 2B), Brodie Jackson (1), and Devin Schmalz (2), but a failure to start the next inning with time on the clock cost the Giants.
In game 2 of pool play, the Giants offense exploded for 9 hits and 11 runs, as they pulled out the 11-9 win. Talon Whetstone (1), Cole Foster (2), Cayden Knight (3, 2B, HR), Weston Burnett (1), and Gabe Jennings (2) all had hits as the Giants won 11-9.
The win seated the Giants 3rd going into bracket play. Brodie Jackson took the mound, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs over 5 innings, while striking out 4. At the plate Cole Foster (1), Cayden Knight (1), Chris Jackson (1), and Devin Schmalz (2B) and all had hits as the Giants pushed 5 runs across in the 5-2 win.
In the Semi Finals game, the Giants were matched up with the number 1 seed, the Heaters. Talon Whetstone allowed just 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5, and allowing just 2 runs, and the Giants offense scored 9 times to give the Giants the 9-2 win. Offensively Talon Whetstone (3), Kaden Woods (2B), Cayden Knight (1), Aubrey Sanders (1), Parker Stewart (1), Brodie Jackson (2, 1 2B), Weston Burnett (1), and Gabe Jennings (1) all had hits for the Giants in the win. The win moved the Giants into the finals.
In the finals the Giants managed only 1 hit (Talon Whetstone) as they fell 9-1.
