Battling through a season of injury, the Birmingham Giants have rattled of 10 straight victories to push their season record to 16-6 including 5 straight in the playmaker state tournament to bring home the championship. To lead off Pool play, the Giants faced off with Caba 12u. Max Hollingsworth started the game on the hill striking out 3 over 2 innings, before being relieved by Gavin Franklin and Alex Reynolds. At the plate Kolton Hudgins (2), Caleb Johnson (2B), Daniel Stringfelllow (3, 2 2B), Caden Cain (2), Alex Reynolds (1), Gavin Franklin (1), Max Hollingsworth (1), Trevor Cox (2), and Karington Daniels (2B) all had hits as the Giants rolled to a 9-2 win.
In their second game of pool play, the Giants faced off with Team Easton. With a game that was tight all the way through, Kolton Hudgins walked the Giants off in the last innings with a run scoring single as the Giants won 8-7. Offensively hits came from Alex Guthrie (1), Kolton Hudgins (3), Caleb Johnson (1), and Daniel Stringfellow (1) all had hits in the win. The win seated the Gianst 1st overall moving into bracket play.
Daniel Stringfellow started the Giants first bracket play game, allowing just 3 hits and 3 runs, and Max Hollingsworth held on over the 2 extra innings to keep the Giants with an 8-7 win. For the second game in a row, Kolton Hudgins walked the Giants off and Alex Guthrie (2, 1 2b), Kolton Hudgins (2), Caleb Johnson (1), Daniel Stringfellow (2, 1HR), Caden Cain (2), and Max Hollingsworth (2) all had hits to lead the Giants to the hard fought win.
Alex Reynolds took the hill for the Giants in the Semi Final game, striking out 7 over 5 innings, allowing just 2 hits, and Alex Guthrie (3, 1 2b), Kolton Hudgins (2), Caleb Johnson (2), Caden Cain (2), Alex Reynolds (2, 1 2b), Trevor Cox (2), Karington Daniels (2B), and Max Hollingsworth(1) all had hits for the Giants for the 8-0 win. The win sent the 4th Giants team of the weekend to the Tournament finals and 3rd to a state finals.
Caden Cain started the game on the mound and Max Hollingsworth closed out the 11-8 win to bring the Giants home the 12u State tournament. At the Plate Alex Guthrie (3, 1 HR), Kolton Hudgins (2), Caleb Johnson (2B), Caden Cain (2, 1 HR), Trevor Cox (3B), Karington Daniels (3B), and Daniel Stringfellow (2, 1 2b, 1 HR) , whos home run tied the Birmingham Giants single season alltime mark with 11. The win crowned the Giants state champions moving into their week off.
