The 8u Birmingham Giants swept their way through the 2019 Surfs Up tournament in Gulf shores last weekend. In their first game of pool play the Louisiana Knights. A 7 run first inning all but put the game as the Giants rolled to a 15-0 win. Zander Leamon (2), Ross Christy (3), Brody Flack (1), Weston Morton (1), Lucas Busby (2), Aaron Robinson (2), JB Fowler (2), Blake Freeman (1), Tyson Latham (1), and Kameron Laws (1) all had hits in the win.
In game 2 of pool play, The Giants met the Top Gun, a team they have beaten the previous 3 times this season, and this time was no different as the Giants rolled to a 17-1 win. Offensively Zander Leamon (2), Ross Christy (3), Brody Flack (2), Weston Morton (2), Lucas Busby (2), Aaron Robinson (2), JB Fowler (1), Blake Freeman (1), Tyson Latham (1), and Kameron Laws (2) all had hits in the lopsided win. The win seated the Giants first overall heading into bracket play.
After a first round by the Giants were paired with Top Gun, again, and again the result was the same as the first 4 times, anoth win and championship for the Giants. After trailing by 2 most of the game, in the 4th inning, the Giants exploded for 7 runs and held on for a 7-6 win.
