10u Birmingham Giants Softball finishes second

    Playing in their 2nd tournament of player pitch, the 10u Birmingham Giants rolled off 3 victories on their way to a 3-1 record and a second place finish in Calera. In their first pool play game, the Giants were matched up with the Tomahawks. Khloe Herron allowed just 2 hits while striking out 4, and at the plate Khloe Kennedy had the only hit the Giants needed to manufacture 12 runs in the 12-2 win.

    In game 2 of pool play, the Giants faced off with the Chattanooga Heat. Kira Vines allowed just 3 hits while striking out 3 over 3 innings, and at the plate the Giants offense was paced by Kendall Burch (1), Khloe Herron (1), Haylee Gothard (2B), and Shiloh Fuller (2B) who all had hits in the 8-6 win, seating the Giants first heading into bracket play.

    In their first game of bracket play, the Giants were again matched with the Tomahawks. Kendall Burch started the game allowing just 2 hits while striking out 2 as the Giants pulled out the 9-8 win. Shiloh Fuller (2B) and Haylee Gothard (3B) had the hits for the Giants in the win. The victory moved the Giants into the finals to face off with the Prospects.

    The Giants offense produced 4 hits in the Championship game, Kira Vines (1), Khloe Herron (1), Haylee Gothard (1), and Sophia Carroll (1) but unearned runs hurt the Giants as the fell 11-3, finishing second.
