Posting a 5-2-1 record the Birmingham Giants softball showcase teams rolled to a first and second place finish at the MMI showcase in Hoover. Alyssa Faircloth tossed a no hitter to lead off the day, striking out 10 and Ella Walker (2B) Olivia Stults (HR) and Raegan Thrasher (HR) powered the Giants offense in the 4-0 win.
In game 2 Sarah Hindman allowed just 1 run over 4 innings, while striking out 2, and Lauren Dill (2, HR), Reese Lowey (2), Shauna Kelly (2), Anna Jones (1), Sarah Hindman (1), Piper Lowery (2B), Ella Morgan Sears (2B), Kalea Hewitt (2B), and Trinity Britnell (1) all had hits for the Giants in the 10-1 win.
In game 3 the Giants offense managed just 3 hits from, Shauna Kelly (1), Ella Morgan Sears (1), and Sarah Hindman (1), but a few unearned runs late cost the Giants a 5-1 loss.
In game 4, the Giants late lead as the game ended in a tie. Ella Walker (2), Shauna Kelly (2), Kalea Hewitt (1), Olivia Stults (1), Nattie Miles (2B), and Raegan Thrasher (2) all had hits in the 7-7 tie.
In game 5, Sarah Hindman scattered 5 hits over 5 innings, and Reese Lowery (2, 1 2B), Anna Jones (1), Sarah Hindman (2B), Lauren Dill (1) and Trinity Britnell (1) all had hits in the 4-1 win.
In game 6 the Giants managed only 3 hits Ella Walker (1), Morgan Rice (1), and Olivia Stults as the Giants did not play their best in the 8-0 loss.
In game 7 the Giants bounced back with a 6-5 win. Ella Walker (1), Shauna Kelly (1), and Alyssa Faircloth (1) all had hits as the Giants pulled out the 6-5 win, sealing the 1st and 2nd seeds before the Rain shortened the tournament.
