Running their season record to 6-0-1 to start the season, the Birmingham Giants Reynolds 13u team, rolled off 4 in a row to win their tournament on sunday in Montevallo. In their first game of pool play, the Giants were matched up with CABA red, and after trailing most of the game, Caleb Johnsons, walk off triple gave the Giants a 6-5 win. Talon Whetstone started the game on the mound, before being relieved by Cayden cain, and Jay Fuller, who picked up the win for the Giants in relief. At the plate, Jay Fuller (1), and Caleb Johnson (2, 1 3B) both had hits for the Giants in the 6-5 win.
In game 2 of pool play, the Giants were matched up with Lightning Baseball. Alex Guthrie allowed just 3 hits over 3 innings, and Alex Reynolds closed out the final inning of the 7-1 win. Offensively Jay Fuller (1), Alex Guthrie (3B), Max Hollingsworth (1), and Karington Daniels (1) all had hits in the win. The win seated the Giants first overall heading into bracket play.
In their first game of bracket play, the Giants were paired up with the Spain Park Jags. Alex Reynolds scattered 4 hits over 3 innings, and Alex Guthrie closed out the final innings, of the 11-3 win. Alex Reynolds (2, 1 2B), Alex Guthrie (1), Daniel Stringfellow (1), Colton Praytor (1), and Will Mize (2) all had hits to power the Giants into the Championship game.
In the Championship game, the Giants faced off with CABA White. Daniel Stringfellow started the game on the mound before Jay Full came on to close out the 9-5 win. Jay Fuller (1), Alex Reynolds (1), Alex Guthire (2, 1 3B, 1HR), Daniel Stringfellow (1), Cayden Cain (1), Davin Franklin(1), and Trevor Cox (1) all had hits for the Giants as the pulled out the victory.
