Playing in the grandslam state tournament sunday in Montevallo, the 9u Birmingham Giants laced up their spikes and rolled off 3 wins in 4 games to bring home the title, in the process winning their 9th and 10th games of the fall in alabama play. In game 1 of pool play the Giants faced off with the Dream Team. The Giants struggled defensively in their only loss of the day, but offensively were led by Ross Christy (2 2B), Landon Kyle (2, 1 2B), Elijah Lackey (2), Taylen Floyd (1), and Kam Laws (1) who all had hits in the 14-7 defeat.
In game 2 of pool play the Giants faced off with the Ttown Thunder. Landon Kyle started the game, allowing not hits over 2 innings while striking out 5, and Aaron Robinson closed out the final 2 innings of the 14-4 win. At the plate Justin Hill (2), Ross Christy (2), Tylan Johnson (3), Landon Kyle (3), Elijah Lackey (2), Taylen Floyd (1), and Kam Laws (1), all had hits in the win. The win seated the Giants 2nd moving into bracket play.
In the first game of bracket play the Giants again met up with Dream Team Max Bell took the mound allowing just 1 hits and 1 run while striking out 5, and Tylan Floyd closed out the final inning of the 8-2 win. At the plate Justin Hill (1), Tylan Johnson (1), Landon Kyle (2), Max Bell (1),and Elijah Lackey (2) all had hits in the win. The victory moved the Giants into the championship game.
In the Championship game the Giants erupted for 6 runs in the final frame to close out the 11-6 win. Justin Hill (2), Ross Christy (3), Tylan Johnson (2), Landon Kyle (2), Max Bell (1), Elijah Lackey (1), Aaron Robinson (1), Tylan Floyd (1), and Kam Laws all had hits, and Landon Kyle allowed 3 hits and 1 run over 4 innings while striking out 5, and Tylan Floyd closed out the final inning as the Giants brought home the Giants 13th State Title all time.
