Playing in their first tournament of the fall, the Birmingham Giants 8u team continued its success from the fall, nothing a 3-1 mark, finishing 2nd. In game 1 of pool play, the Giants were paired with the Calera Wolves. Scoring 7 runs in each of the first 2 innings allowed the Giants to notch the 14-2 win. Hits from Mason Jones (2), Brayden Helms (2), Will Shoults (2), Braeden Wainwright (2), Cam Buford (2), Miles Sanders (1), Tanner Egan (2), Luke Francis (1), Ethan Passmore (1), and Taj Salaam (1) powered the Giants offense.
In game 2 of pool play, the Birmingham Giants 8u Baseball squad was matched up with d3. In what turned out to be a hard fought contest, the Giants pulled out the 9-8 win. Mason Jones (3), Brayden Helms (1), Cam Buford (3), Will Shoults (1), Braeden Wainwright (2), Miles Sanders(1), Landon Coleman (1), Luke Francis (1), Ethan Passmore (1) and Taj Salaam (2) all had hits in the victory.
The win moved the Giants into the gold bracket to face off with Hoover Bucs. In a game that was never really close the Giants pounded out 21 hits enroute to the 16-5 win. Mason Jones (3), Brayden Helms (2), Cam Buford (1), Will Shoults (2), Braeden Wainwright (1), Miles Sanders (1), Landon Coleman (2), Tanner Egan (3), Luke Francis (2), Brons Anderson (1), Etan Passmore (1), and Taj Salaam (2) all had hits in the win. The win moved the Giants into the Championship game.
In the championship game, the Giants fell behind early and did not recover, finishing 2nd. Mason Jones (2), Cam Buford (1), Will Shoults (1), Landon Coleman (1), Luke Francis (1), Brons Anderson (2), Ethan Passmore (1) and Taj Salaam (1) all had hits in the loss.
