Throughout their entire season, softball players are consistently throwing. This often causes the shoulder to become sore, stiff, or even injured if the muscles are not properly trained. This Myosource Kinetic Bands Softball training video shows softball players how to use resistance to work their shoulders and rotator cuffs. The Upper Body Myosource Kinetic Bands are used by softball players because they do not limit movements and allow them to increase their mobility, flexibility, and strength. Notice in the video below how the girls feel the tension from the resistance. Rotator cuff care is essential because they must function at full range of motion as well as being strong, flexible, and mobile. The Myosource Upper Body Kinetic Bands provide softball players with an inexpensive, easy-to-use, compact tool for becoming all they can be at the plate, on the mound, or on the field.
It is no secret softball players are susceptible to shoulder and rotator cuff injuries. This is why it is important to put a special emphasis on training the rotators so they are strong and flexible. Notice in the video above, the girls perform overhead movement, which is important for body balance. In order to throw, hit, and field the muscles must be able to produce power and full movement. Using the bands will enable softball players to build quick contracting and reacting muscles for speed, power, and flexibility.
EXTERNAL SHOULDER ROTATION:
- The softball player will take the clip of the Myosource Upper Body Kinetic Bands and attach it to the fence.
- Hold the handle in left hand.
- Stand with left side away from the fence.
- Walk sideways out away from the fence to where there is no slack in the Kinetic Band.
- Place the right hand on left side tucked under the other arm.
- With the left elbow bent and forearm straight forward, parallel with the ground, pull the handle to rotate the shoulder of the arm out to the left and bring it back in on a 3 second count. Make sure the bent elbow always stays close to side.
- The entire arm should feel the tension and burn.
- Switch sides and work the opposite shoulder.
BACK SHOULDER ROTATION:
The back shoulder rotation is a great exercise for softball players when trying to relieve shoulder pain in order to play without pain.
- The softball player will one again clip the Myosource Upper Body Kinetic Band to the fence.
- Hold the handle with left hand.
- Stand with both feet facing the fence and walk back to where there is no slack in the band.
- Bring left elbow up and out, where both the upper arm and the forearm are parallel to the ground, but facing forward.
- Pull up and back with the handle to where the arm is in an “L” shape and then slowly lower back down to starting position.
- Make sure that the elbow never moves.
- Perform 15-20 and switch to the right arm.
