Playing in the fall USSSA state tournament, the Birmingham Giants 8u Softball team placed 3rd last saturday in vinemont. In their first game of pool play the Giants were matched with the Dirty Dozen. Jumping out early in the first inning, the Giants coated to an 11-0 victory. Paisley Mullins (3), Autumn Pounds (1), Addison Bailey (2), Cree Bandy (2), Hadlee Mason (2), Grace Turner (1), Khloe Hill (2), Emmy Parker (1), Hilton Ashe (1), Jheida Reed (1), and Rylie Mann (1) all had hits in the win for the Giants.
In game 2 of pool play the Giants faced off with the Bulls. Offensive the Giants received hits from Paisley Mullins (1), Addison Bailey (2), Hadlee Mason (1), Grace Turner (1), Khloe Hill (1), Emmy Parker (2), Hilton Ashe (2), Jheida Reed (1), and Rylie Mann (1) and Brooklyn Davlin (1) but it was not enough as the Giants fell 14-6.
In their first game of bracket play, the Giants were paired up with the Bandits. After trailing early 1-0 the Giants exploded for 11 runs winning 11-1. Hits from Paisley Mullins (2), Autumn Pounds (1), Addison Bailey (2), Cree Bandy (3), Hadlee Mason (2), Grace Turner (2), Khloe Hill (2), Hilton Ashe (2), Jheida Reed (1), and Rylie Mann (1) powered the Giants offense to the win.
The win moved the Giants to the next round of bracket play to again face the Dirty Dozen. After trailing early, the Giants roared back to take a 12-11 lead and eventually the win. Offensively the Giants were led by Paisley Mullins (2), Addison Bailey (3), Cree Bandy (1), Hadlee Mason (2), Grace Turner (3), Khloe Hill (2), Emmy Parker (1), Hilton Ashe (3), Jheida Reed (2), Rylie Mann (2) and Brooklyn Davlin (1) in the victory that moved the Giants into the semi finals.
In the Semi Finals the Giants were set to play the Birmingham Vipers. In a game that was 6-6 after 3 innings, the Giants defense faltered in the final 3 frames allowing 6 more viper runs in the 12-6 loss, finishing the Giants 3rd overall.
