14u Birmingham Giants Capture First

Playing in their second tournament of the fall, the Birmingham Giants 14u Softball team posted a 4-1 mark, and brought home the Championship from Cullman. Gracelyn McCarrell started the first pool play game in the circle allowing just 3 hits over 3 innings on her way to tossing a 2-0 shutout. Offensively Sarah Beth Gill (1), and McKenzie Little (1) both had hits for the Giants in the 2-0 win.

In their 2nd game of pool play the Giants were matched with Xtreme Heat. 1 Hit from Sarah Beth Gill was all the Giants could muster in their only loss of the day 4-0. The 1-1 record seated the Giants 2nd overall headin g into bracket play. In their first game of bracket play, the Giants were matched up with K9. 4 Runs in the first inning, and the Giants never looked back, enrout to a 13-2 win. Hits from Sarah Beth Gill (1), McKenzie Little (1), Lanie Otwell (3, 1 2B, 1 HR), Brayley Mitchell (1), Machaela Sweet (2), Reece Carden (2), and Taylor Kindred (2) all had hits for the Giants in the 13-2 win that moved them into the championship.

In the Championship of the double elimination round the Giants were matched with Xtreme Heat once again with a chance to avenge their only loss of the day. Giants pitching allowed just 2 hits and 2 runs over 5 innings, while the Giants offense produced hits from Gracie Dice (1), McKenzie Little (2), Sophie Gromko (3B), Brayley Mitchell (2), and Reece Craden (2B) in the 6-2 win. The win moved the Giants into the final game.

In the final championship round game McKenzie Little started the game in the circle, allowing 2 hits over 4 innings, while striking out 2, and Sarah Beth Gill (1), Lanie Otwell (2, 1 3B), and Sophie Gromko (1) all had hits in the 6-2 win.
