12u Birmingham Giants Softball brings home 2nd from Tupelo

Playing on the road in a strong tournament the Birmingham Giants 12u Softball team posted a 4-2-1 mark on their way to capturing 2nd. Starting their morning with the Diamond Divas, and after trailing 2-1 going into the final inning, Jamie Hughley led off with a double, then Stole 3rd and on a 3-2 count with 2 outs stole home to tie the game, the way it would finish 2-2. Kaydence Hays allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk over 4 innings, and hits came from Hailey Nichols (1), Teagan Huey (1), Jamie Hughley (2B), Piper Rowe (1), Hadley Williams (1), and Taylor Howard (1) all had hits for the Giants in the single pool play game of the pre drawn bracket play tournament.

In their first bracket play game, the Giants were matched up with Southern Pulse. Molly Pappas started the game in the circle, allowing just 2 hits over 3 innings of work, while striking out 1. At the plate Bailey Freeman (1), Teagan Huey (1), Piper Rowe (1), Taylor Howard (1), Emily Vorster (1), Hadley Williams (1), and Skylie Perry (1) all had hits in the 9-3 win. The win moved the Giants on to again face the Diamond Divas.

Skylie Perry started the game in allowing 1 hit over 4 innings, while striking out 2 and Hailey Nichols (1), Jamie Hughley (2B), Piper Rowe (1), Molly Pappas (1), and Hadley Williams (1) all had hits in the 5-3 win. The win moved the Giants into the Semi finals to face the Her-Icanes.

Skylie Perry started the game for the Giants in the circle, allowing just 4 runs on 3 hits over 4 innings, but the Giants offense despite hits from Bailey Freeman (1), Teagan Huey (2B), and Emily Vorster (1) was only able to push across 2 runs of their own, and the Giants fell 4-2.

The loss slated the Giants to next play the Dinger Diamonds. Molly Pappas started the game in the circle allowing no hits over 4 innings, and the Giants registered hits from Hailey Nichols (1), Teagan Huey (2), Jamie Hughley (2B), and Hadley Williams (1) and the Giants won 6-4, moving them on to again face the Her-Icanes, who the Giants would have to beat twice to win the championship.

Molley Pappas started the game, and Sklie Perry closed out the final 2 innings, as offensively Hailey Nichols (1), Teagan Huey (1), Jamie Hughley (2, 1 2B), Kaydence Hays (1), and Hadley Williams (2B) all had hits as the Giants forced the final game winning 4-3. In the second championship game Kaydence Hays started the game in the circle, and Skylie Perry closed out the final 2 innings but the lone hits for the Giants was from Emily Vorster (1) as the Giants came up on the short end of a 7-1 score, finishing 2nd overall.
