The 15u Birmingham Giants split their double header with CABA Baseball 15u on sunday at Moody High School, winning the first game 2-0, while losing the second 9-8.
In game 1 of the double header, the Giants behind 4 shut out innings from Ethan Thrasher (1-0), took an early 2-0 Â lead and would not surrender it back. Thrasher work 4 scoreless, allowing just 1 hit, while striking out 6, and was relieved by Marshall Clark in the 5th, who pitched 2 more scoreless innings, allowing just a single hit, while striking out 1. Noah Hathorn pitched the final innings, allowing 1 hit while striking out 1. The Giants began the season not surrendering an earn run in 18 innings and just 3 hits in those innings.
Offensively the Giants were led by Marshal Clark (1, 2b), Ethan Thrasher (1), Noah Hathorn (1,2b).
In game 2, the Giants gave up 5 first inning runs, Â 4 earned, and fell behind after the 2nd inning 7-1, but in true Giants fashion, by the Giants had closed the gap to 7-6. The Giants committed an outfield error on an arrant throw, which cost the final 2 unearned runs, and the ball game as the Giants fell 9-8.
Offensively the Giants were led by Charles Cobb (1), Gaitlin Roberson (1), Marshal Clark (2, 2b), Ethan Thrasher (1), Ben Jackson (1), Tyler Miller (1), Â and Stone Favrot (1).
The Giants will play Saturday in St Clair County.
