Playing in the Grandslam tournament in Calera, the Birmingham Giants 11u Baseball after dropping their first game rolled off 4 straight victories to bring home the championship. In their first pool play game , the Giants were paired with the Homewood Blue Sox. In what was a close game most of the way, the Blue Sox pulled away in the end 10-3. At the plate, hits from Jiggi Thomas (1), Eli King (1), Kaleb Freeman (1), Noah Andrews (1) and Patrick Bull (2) were not enough as the Giants fell 10-3. In their second game of pool play, the Giants were scheduled to play the East Coast Sox. Kaleb Freeman, Logan Swam, Patrick Bull and Walker Causey combined to strike out 7 over 5 innings in the 6-5 win. Hits from Connor Armstrong (1), Jiggi Thomas (2B), Walker Causey (1), Noah Andrews (1) and Collin Kelley (2) powered the Giants offense with the 6 runs and the Giants triumphed 6-5, to finish pool play 1-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their first game of pool play, Kaleb Freeman and Logan Swam combined to strike out 6 over 5 innings, allowing just 3 earned runs and Connor Armstrong (1), Jiggi Thomas (2, 1 2B), Eli King (3, 1 2B), Kaleb Freeman (2), Patrick Bull (1), and Collin Kelley (1) all had hits as the Giants rolled to a 9-5 win over Top Gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their second bracket play game, the Giants faced off with the Hoover Yard Goats. Logan Swam, and Kaleb Freeman again combined to strike out 5 over 4 innings and Walker Causey (3, 1 2B), Eli King (1), Kaleb Freeman (2, 1 HR), Logan Swam (1), Noah Andrews (2), and Patrick Bull (3) powered the Giants offense to a 6 run 3rd inning in the 12-5 win, and a spot in the championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
